Report: Jason Kidd helped mentor Lonzo Ball last year

As the Los Angeles Lakers continue to their search for a new head coach, it seems as though they”re actively seeking someone that can help develop the team’s young core, which includes Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart. One name that keeps popping up in the rumor mill for that reasons is former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd.

Kidd’s teams didn’t enjoy much success during his four seasons in Milwaukee, but he did play a role in developing the team’s young talent like Khris Middleton, Malcolm Brogdon and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Since being let go by the Bucks last year, Kidd has continued to work alongside young players, including Ball, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN:

This is the first we’ve heard of Ball being mentored by Kidd, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Kidd has been an outspoken fan of Ball and Ball has even drawn comparisons to the Basketball Hall of Fame point guard because of elite playmaking skills. While that doesn’t necessarily make him the best candidate to be the Lakers’ next head coach, it’s something that could work in his favor.
