Report: Jason Garrett interview with Chargers set for Friday

Earlier on Tuesday, we found out that the Chargers requested to interview Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, and it appears that the request was granted.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Los Angeles’ interview with Garrett will take place on Friday.

In 2020 with Garrett as New York’s OC, the team finished second to last in passing yards per game (299.6) and points per game (17.5). QB Daniel Jones only threw for 2,943 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Prior to that, he spent 12 years and the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator and head coach, where Garrett saw success on the offensive side of the ball and great quarterback play, including that of QB Dak Prescott.

Under Garrett, Dallas went 85-67 in regular-season play and won the NFC East title three times, but never reached the NFC championship game. Garrett had a 2-3 playoff record.

Many fans are puzzled by the decision to interview Garrett.

However, The Athletic’s Michael Lombardi notes the Spanos family is close to Jimmy Johnson and Norv Turner and rely on them for advice with coaching decisions, which is why Garrett is on their list.
