REPORT: Jaguars to work out safety T.J. Ward

With just one preseason game left, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be making final cuts soon, and with a top-10 roster in football, they will also be looking to make upgrades wherever they possibly can to become as flawless as possible. That in mind, they’ve seemingly decided to look into potentially making an upgrade at safety by working out former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety T.J. Ward.

Ward, 32, is a former three-time Pro Bowler who last played in 2017 with the Bucs after sitting 2018 out. Prior to that, he spent two seasons with the Denver Broncos where he was a part of one of the league’s most elite secondaries and defenses and was able to win his only championship (Super Bowl 50). Before that, he spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him in the second-round (No. 38 overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Over the course of his career, he’s managed to accumulate 590 tackles , eight interceptions and 44 pass breakups. With 100 starts to his name, the Jags probably would love his experience in the backfield if everything checks out fine, but it remains to be seen if they believe he can be a starter alongside second-year safety Ronnie Harrison.

At the moment, Jarrod Wilson is the Jags’ projected starter with Harrison, however, it’s hard to imagine Ward working out with the team to be a reserve, so that could indicate that the Jags may be uncertain about Wilson as a starter. Ultimately, we’ll have to see how it plays out.
