REPORT: Jaguars to start their regular season off against Chiefs

As we’ve said multiple times this offseason, the Jacksonville Jaguars will have a much harder schedule than they’ve had in the past two years and now it appears they’ll kick it off with arguably their hardest opponent of the season. Per Terez Taylor of Yahoo Sports, the Jags will take on league MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at TIAA Bank Field Week 1.

As most are aware, the Jags took on the Chiefs last October at Arrowhead Stadium for a game that didn’t end well. It was supposed to be a game between one of the game’s most elite defenses and offenses, however, Andy Reid’s high power unit steamrolled the Jags with the final score being 30-14.

However, despite the Chiefs roster being fairly intimidating, there are some positives to look at. The Jags should be much more healthier than they were in last October’s meeting as their offense was plagued with injuries in 2018. That means Leonard Fournette should be back, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury and is clearly the Jags’ No. 1 weapon.

Another positive is that they’ve upgraded the quarterback position with Nick Foles, who once played with the Chiefs and is very familiar with them. Hopefully, both of those factors in addition to home-field advantage will aid the Jags to a victory as it would help the team’s morale heading forward.
