REPORT: Jaguars claim former Seahawks LB Austin Calitro

The Jacksonville Jaguars got a little more experience within their linebacking corps Tuesday by once again going to the waiver wire. Per NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the team claimed fromer Seahawks linebacker Austin Calitro. To make room for his addition, the Jags waived rookie linebacker Joe Giles-Harris.

Calitro, 25, is a Florida native from Orlando who went undrafted out of Villanova in 2017. He initially entered the league by signing with the New York Jets, but bounced around the league to various locations including the Seahawks twice. He spent all of training camp with the Seahawks and found himself on the initial 53-man roster, but was waived when the team brought in fullback Nick Bellore.

While Giles-Harris was a player with upside and potential, Calitro has regular-season experience and started in five games for the Seahawks last season while participating in all 16 games. In the process, he was able to rack up 45 tackles and a half-sack.

Giles-Harris was a player who impressed the Jags this preseason and accumulated 14 total tackles in the process. If he can clear waivers, there is a strong possibility that the team will try and sign him to the practice squad.
