REPORT: Jags to add help at LB by signing ex-Packer Jake Ryan

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been fairly busy this weekend with the signings of tight end Geoff Swaim, offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi and receiver Chris Conley, but it appears they aren’t done yet. Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the team will be signing former Green Bay Packers linebacker Jake Ryan, too.

Ryan, 27, was drafted by the Packers in the fourth-round of the 2015 NFL Draft (No. 125 overall) and spent four seasons with the team. While there he managed to start 27 games in his first three seasons, however, he tore his ACL in August of last season (during training camp), which resulted in him sitting out of 2018. While there, he managed to accumulate 213 tackles, three pass breakups, one forced fumble and a sack over the course of participating in 43 career games.

Some believe the Packers were interested in bringing the veteran linebacker back, but it looks as though the Jags simply had a better offer. That potentially could involve the opportunity to start at inside linebacker if the Jags want to move Myles Jack to the outside. If not, it appears they at least have a solid depth player at a position where the Jags needed some upgrades in terms of reserves.
