Jaguars to sign QB Nick Foles to four-year deal

After plenty of anticipation, the Jacksonville Jaguars appear to have found a new starting quarterback and his name is Nick Foles. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the deal is seemingly done, though the details haven’t been revealed.

Foles, 30, has been the top name many have associated with the Jags after his former quarterbacks coach, John DeFilippo, was hired as the team’s offensive coordinator in January. While together with the Philadelphia Eagles, the two won Super Bowl LII and will look to bring some of that magic to Jacksonville.

Foles was the top quarterback on the free agent market and is a player who gained popularity after leading the Eagles to two consecutive playoff runs with Carson Wentz struggling with injuries late in 2017 and 2018. As previously mentioned, his first postseason run resulted in a 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, being named the game’s MVP. This past season they were able to make it to the divisional round with Foles behind center, but were eliminated by the New Orleans Saints.

Foles will enter his tenure with a career total of 11,165 passing yards, 68 touchdowns and 33 interceptions to his name.
