Report: Jags CB Jalen Ramsey calls out sick Monday, may not practice all week

After a crazy saga in which Jalen Ramsey demanded a trade last week and the Jacksonville Jaguars ultimately decided against it, the big question heading into this week was rather or not the All-Pro would practice or not. We found out the answer to that relatively early Monday morning as ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Ramsey will miss the opening day of practice for Week 4 (plus more potentially) with the flu.

As most are aware, Ramsey initially asked for a trade after the Jags’ Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans. The request resulted from a meeting that reportedly took place with Jags football executive Tom Coughlin in which some “disrespectful” things were supposedly said.

After their “Thursday Night Football” victory against the Tennessee Titans the Jags looked into various offers on the table, including offers from the Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens amongst several other notables. Ultimately, none of the offers were good enough for team owner Shad Khan to come off his star player, who he reportedly wants to make the league’s highest-paid corner.

Per the Associated Press, several members of the Jags’ organization put forth the effort to mend the relationship between Ramsey and Coughlin this weekend. And while Ramsey might be genuinely sick, one can’t help but wonder if that would be the case if he received a new deal already, was playing for another organization or some changes were made to the front office.
