REPORT: Jags “cautiously optimistic” a deal with Foles will get done soon

With the legal tampering period beginning Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars will have their focus on former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles who long has been expected to sign with the organization. Per Mike Silver of NFL Network, if a deal does happen it could be done Monday evening and is one that might be in the $21-$22 million range. However, if a deal can’t be agreed upon, Silver added the Jags could look into landing names like Teddy Bridgewater or Ryan Tannehill.

The most interesting tidbit about Silver’s statements is the price range Foles and the Jags are eying. If they are truly the only team looking for his services, those figures may indicate that the Jags may overpay the veteran who has flashed brilliance at times while in Philadelphia, but has also struggled mightily while with the St. Louis Rams. However, Silver added that the Jags may believe they’re getting the player that guided the Eagles to the playoffs these past few years — and if that’s the case it would be a win. Fans still should expect a deal full of incentives and an out in Year 2.

Foles currently has a career total of 11,165 passing yards, 68 touchdowns and 33 interceptions to his name. While in Philadelphia he started in five regular season games between 2017-18 and six postseason games. Of course, the most significant of those games was Super Bowl LII, which the Eagles won by a score of 41-33 and Foles was named MVP.
