Report: Jadeveon Clowney in communication with Texans despite holdout

Houston Texans edge defender Jadeveon Clowney may not be attending training camp as he pushes for a new long-term deal, but don’t take this as a sign that he wants out of the Bayou City.

According to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero, Clowney has been working out, is in communication with his teammates and coaches, and is studying the playbook ahead of the 2019 season.

He pointed out that as Clowney did not sign his franchise tender he will not be subject to fines for missing training camp, which he is expected to miss.

However, Pelissero said that he has spoken to one person who has been in contact with Clowney, and the news regarding the regular season should relax Texans fans.

“They would be shocked if Clowney misses any regular-season games,” said Pelissero of his contact.

As it stands it looks highly likely that Clowney will remain with the Texans this year, although rumors persist on social media that the team would consider a trade.
