On Thursday, New York Giants guard Shane Lemieux went down with a knee injury and had to be carted off the field. The team offered no update on the severity of said injury, but some positive news has surfaced as of Friday morning.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports that although Lemieux will undergo further testing, it is not a worst case scenario-type injury nor will it end the 24-year-old’s season.

Although Lemieux’s injury is not season-ending, it could and likely will impact his availability throughout training camp, into the preseason and potentially even into the regular season.
As a matter of insurance, the Giants signed veteran Zach Fulton this offseason and still have Will Hernandez, who arrived in tremendous physical condition, on their roster. In Lemieux’s absence, they, Kenny Wiggins and others will see more field time.
In fact, when Lemieux left Thursday’s practice it was Wiggins, not Fulton, who initially stepped in to replace him.
