Report: Hunter Henry may miss preseason time with a shoulder injury

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry suffered a shoulder injury on Sunday, and will get an MRI, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. The painful injury, while not serious, may keep Henry out of preseason action, including the Patriots’ matchup against the Washington Football Team on Thursday night.

Henry suffered the injury on a rushing play during an 11-on-11 drill where he was trying to block linebacker Anfernee Jennings. Henry joined the Patriots on a three-year, $37.4 million contract after a foray into free agency. He and tight end Jonnu Smith, an other big free agency signing, were expected to be at the center of New England’s offense.

The Patriots also placed tight end Dalton Keene, a 2020 third-round pick, on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury this week. The only good news at tight end has been the Devin Asiasi, another 2020 third-round pick, returned to practice on Sunday after missing time due to COVID-19.
