Report: Houston Rockets to sign G-League guard Chris Chiozza

The Houston Rockets are signing G League guard Chris Chiozza to a 10-day contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Chiozza, 23, was preparing to play for USA Basketball at the FIBA qualifiers before being called up.

The Rockets were required to meet their 14-man roster minimum before Friday, per league rules. It had been heavily speculated for some time that Houston would sign two 10-day contracts so they could fill those roster spots while staying under the luxury tax. Chiozza certainly fits the bill of one such signing.

Chiozza is 6-0 tall and averaged 13.1 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds this season while shooting an impressive 41.5 percent from three-point range. According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Chiozza will likely play for Houston’s G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
