Report: Guerschon Yabusele expected to play for Celtics in LVSL

For those wondering who will suit up for the Boston Celtics this summer aside from three rookies (Grant Williams, Carsen Edwards and Tremont Waters) and former NBA guard Aaron Harrison, the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach reports that the Celtics plan to have 23-year-old forward Guerschon Yabusele play in the Las Vegas Summer League circuit.

The plans are different for forward Semi Ojeleye, who was drafted a year after Yabusele, as Boston currently plans to hold him out of Summer League.

What that likely alludes to is a rotation role for Ojeleye next season and the continuance of an end-of-the-bench role for Yabusele.

Though drafted a season prior to Ojeleye, both Yabusele and Ojeleye only have two seasons of NBA experience as Yabusele spent the 2016-17 season with the CBA’s Shanghai Sharks, earning an All-Star selection after averaging 20.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game on 52.7 percent shooting from the field and 36.4 percent from three (per RealGM).

Yabusele is more of a true power forward than Ojeleye but could be just as talented, as well as passionate about playing on both ends. With forward Marcus Morris possibly heading out of town and the jury still out on veteran playmaker Gordon Hayward, Yabusele could very well find himself in Celtics rotation himself. Especially if he plays well in the Summer League exhibitions.
