Report: Giants working out RB Josh Ferguson, DE Carroll Phillips

The New York Giants claimed former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Tuzar Skipper off of waivers on Monday, but their Week 2 roster tinkering may not be done just yet.

As is typical on Tuesdays throughout the season, the Giants will host a slew of free agents at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that running back Josh Ferguson and defensive end Carroll Phillips will be among those in attendance.

Ferguson originally signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois in 2016. In addition to his stay with Indianapolis, he’s all had two stints with the Houston Texans and one with the New England Patriots — all of those coming on their respective practice squads.

In 26 career games, Ferguson has gained 25 yards on 16 carries, adding 152 yards on 23 receptions. He’s also returned nine kickoffs for 166 yards.

Phillips is another former Illinois product, having signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2017. And somewhat ironically, he spent the 2018 season with Ferguson’s former team, the Colts.

In 10 career games, Phillips has been credited with five tackles.

The Giants also worked out several other players.
