Report: Giants tell DeAndre Baker to stay away from team meetings

The New York Giants will continue their virtual off through the end of May in accordance with the league’s extended timeline, but cornerback DeAndre Baker will not be welcomed to join them. At least not for right now.

Multiple outlets are now reporting that the Giants have informed Baker to steer clear of team meetings and Zoom conferences, and to instead focus his recent legal woes.

Baker was arrested and charged with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm stemming from an alleged robbery this past Wednesday.

Baker and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar are accused of robbing patrons of an illegal dice game, and making off with over $60,000 in cash and $10,000 is knockoff watches.

The pair were released on Sunday after a judge set their bond at $25,000 for each count — a total of $100,000 for Dunbar and $200,000 for Baker. They were also instructed to surrender concealed carry permits, firearms and ammunition within 48 hours.

Baker was among the Giants’ first-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. They exchanged multiple picks with the Seahawks (ironically enough) in order to move back into Round 1, where they took Baker at No. 30 overall.
