Report: Giants talking with WR Chris Hogan

Even prior to trading Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants had begun to sniff around several wide receivers.

They had attempted to lure Phillip Dorsett to East Rutherford, but he ultimately chose to re-sign with the New England Patriots. Accordingly, they moved onto the next man on their list: Chris Hogan.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports that the Giants have been in contact with Hogan’s representation in recent days.

The 31-year-old Hogan, who has won two Super Bowl titles with the Patriots, is a New Jersey native, having attended Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes before playing football at Monmouth College.

Hogan was initially signed by the San Francisco 49ers after going undrafted in 2011, but he didn’t stick. He later had a cup of coffee with the Giants, signing to their practice squad for 11 days in 2011.

From 2011-12, Hogan spent time on the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad before finally getting a legitimate opportunity with the Buffalo Bills, where he remained until signing with the Patriots in 2016.

In 88 career games, the 6-foot-1 Hogan has hauled in 194 for 2,610 yards and 18 touchdowns. His best season came in 2016 with the Patriots when he recorded 38 receptions for 680 yards and four touchdowns, adding an additional 17 receptions for 332 yards and two touchdowns in the playoffs.
