Report: Giants put in waiver claim for WR Gary Jennings

The New York Giants put in a claim for free agent rookie wide receiver Gary Jennings this week, but were beaten to the punch by the Miami Dolphins, who had a higher seed in the waiver process.

Jennings (6-foot-1, 214 pounds) was the 120th selection out of West Virginia by the Seattle Seahawks and was waived this week when Seattle signed former New England Patriot Josh Gordon. The Giants already have Jennings’ Mountaineers teammate and fellow wideout, David Sills, on their practice squad.

Jennings accumulated no stats for the Seahawks this season.

The fact the Giants were looking to get outside receiver help with Sterling Shepard’s status from two concussions still unknown indicates they may not be planning on activating Russell Shepard from injured reserve. Russell was placed on IR on September 26 and is eligible to return after the Giants’ bye in Week 12.
