Report: Giants not actively looking to trade Odell Beckham Jr.

New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman reiterated his stance on trading wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. when he opened his 2019 NFL Combine press conference by saying, well. . . that he wasn’t going to trade Odell Beckham Jr.

“We didn’t sign Odell Beckham to trade him. I know that’s all over the place right now, but we didn’t sign him to trade him,” Gettleman said without being asked. “That’s all I need to say about that.”

Despite Gettleman’s insistence, many decided to focus on the fact that the GM wouldn’t rule out all possible Beckham-involved trades.

Gettleman, of course, had implied that if a team called offering the world, he’d listen. That subsequently morphed into, “Giants still open to trading Beckham.”

However, as Gettleman has repeated time and again, that’s not actually the case. And Jordan Raanan confirmed that late last week with a report that the Giants are not actively seeking to trade their superstar wide receiver.

While one would hope this puts the rumors and speculation to bed, it won’t. Beckham trade speculation is a hot market for fans and writers alike, so there’s really no need to silence that cash cow. And given what just happened with Antonio Brown in Pittsburgh, it’s always easy to argue, “but if…”

If pigs had wings they could fly.

Unless a team in extreme desperation calls the Giants offering two first-round picks and then some, Beckham will remain in blue for the foreseeable future.
