Report: Giants meeting with Tre Boston, Johnathan Cyprien

With just two days to go until they opening training camp, the New York Giants have decided to kick the tires on a few veteran safeties and see if there’s any tread remaining.

Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter report that the Giants will meet with both Tre Boston and Johnathan Cyprien on Monday.

Boston has been a serviceable safety for three different clubs in his four-year career. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round out of North Carolina in 2014 and played in 42 games (starting 16) before being waived/injured by Gettleman in 2017.

Boston played on one-year contracts the past two seasons for the Los Angeles Chargers and Arizona Cardinals, registering 79 total tackles in each of those campaigns.

Cyprien, meanwhile, was a second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Jags before signing with the Tennessee Titans as a free agent in 2017, where he remained until being released in March.

In 70 career games, Cyprien has recorded 511 tackles (380 solo), 11 stuffs, four forced fumbles, three sacks, 17 passes defensed and two interceptions.

Behind Jabrill Peppers, Antoine Bethea and Michael Thomas, the Giants are somewhat thin at the safety position and took another recent hit with the suspension of Kamrin Moore pending a domestic violence investigation.
