Report: Giants, Logan Ryan agree to three-year deal

Christmas came right on time for veteran safety Logan Ryan.

The Giants and the New Jersey native have agreed to a three-year, $31 million deal with $20 million in guaranteed money, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Shortly after Rapoport’s report, Ryan confirmed the news with a tweet.

Ryan was a late offseason addition to the Giants’ roster after the then-free agent failed to secure the sort of big-money deal he was looking for. However, it was clear from the onset that he was a pivotal part of the team both on and off the field, and had made himself indispensable.

“Definitely. I’m Jersey made, it’s been a blessing for me to be here,” Ryan said in early December. “Free agency, the question is going to come up time and time again, but we don’t even know the salary cap for next year. I have 30-something days left in this regular season.”

Initial expectations were that Ryan would would test free agency, but at more than $10 million per season, he ultimately landed the sort of deal he would have been seeking anyway.

In 14 games (13 starts) this year, Ryan has recorded 83 tackles, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one sack, four QB hits, nine passes defensed and one interception.
