Report: Giants ‘in the mix’ for DE Vinny Curry

Even after signing defensive end Markus Golden, the New York Giants remain in desperate need of more experienced pass rushers. And one potential solution could come by way of defensive end Vinny Curry, who was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in February.

Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports the Giants are “in the mix” for Curry, who is scheduled to meet with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday.

Curry, a second-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, spent the first six years of his career in the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles before signing with the Buccaneers as a free agent last season.

However, after just one year in Tampa Bay, where he ironically book-ended their defensive line with former Giant Jason Pierre-Paul, Curry was released.

Although Curry had played well in Philadelphia, he didn’t seem like a fit in Tampa Bay, earning just a 58.4 grade courtesy of Pro Football Focus, which was good for 85th among defensive ends league-wide.

In 96 career games, Curry has recorded 151 tackles, 19 stuffs, 24.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and two passes defensed. His best season came in 2014 when he recorded nine sacks for the Eagles.
