Report: Giants hire ex-Lions director of pro scouting Brendan Prophett

In late April, the New York Giants lost two area scouts: Mike Murphy, who is moving on from the organization, and Steve Devine, who has opted to retire.

At least one of those vacancies has now been filled.

Neil Stratton of Inside the League reports that the Giants will hire Brendan Prophett, who had previously served as the Detroit Lions’ director of pro scouting since 2016.

With the Lions, Prophett was one of the highest-ranking personnel department executives in the organization, behind only general manager Bob Quinn, vice president of player personnel Kyle O’Brien and director of player personnel Lance Newmark.

Prophett has a solid reputation around the league as a strong communicator and fair talent evaluator. With the Giants, although he appears to be taking a step down to area scout, he’ll provide tremendous value on the road.
