Report: Giants cut Austin Droogsma, re-sign Malcolm Bunche

The dream of former Florida State shot-putter Austin Droogsma of becoming an NFL offensive lineman is dead. For the moment, anyway.

The New York Giants released Droogsma on Monday and replaced him with Malcolm Bunche.

Droogsma (6-foot-4, 345 pounds), hadn’t played football since 2012, when he was still in high school. The Giants called him in April to invite him to a workout an eventually signed him to their 90-man roster.

Bunche (6-foot-6, 310 pounds) was with the Giants in camp last summer but did not make the team’s 53-man roster. He went undrafted out of UCLA in 2015 and has spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars as well as stints in the AAF and the CFL.
