Report: Giants agree to terms with WR Corey Coleman

Veteran wide receiver Corey Coleman was hoping for a “fair chance” in 2020 after an injury ended his 2019 season before it ever began, which he expressed to ESPN last week.

“Just give me a chance,” Coleman said, via ESPN. “I’m not asking for anything. Just a fair chance and opportunity.”

The New York Giants are giving Coleman that chance, reportedly agreeing to terms with the wideout on a new deal.

Coleman, who came into the 2019 season as the team’s tentative third wide receiver, ended up tearing his ACL on the first day of training camp and just like that, his season was over.

Despite the injury, all Coleman wanted was a chance to prove himself and get a fair chance around the NFL, and the Giants are granting him that opportunity — something they’ve done for him before.

Coleman was seen as a first-round failure after things didn’t work out with the Cleveland Browns, and later the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots.

In 2018, Coleman was signed to the Giants’ practice squad after he was released by the Patriots and then was promoted to the 53-man roster in October. In eight games played, Coleman had five catches for 71 yards and no touchdowns.
