Report: Giants acquire guard Ben Bredeson in trade with Ravens

The New York Giants have added more offensive line help with a little over one hour before the 53-man roster deadline.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Giants have acquired guard and former 2020 fourth-round pick, Ben Bredeson, in a deal that also involves a swap of draft picks.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the deal involves the Giants sending a 2022 fourth-round pick to Baltimore, and the Ravens are sending back Bredeson, a 2022 fifth-round pick and a 2023 seventh-round pick.

Bredeson, who played his college ball at Michigan, appeared in 10 games for the Ravens in 2020, playing in 48 snaps on offense and another 35 on special teams. In those 48 offensive snaps, the 6-foot-5, 315-pound garnered an overall Pro Football Focus grade of 47.4.

According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, the 23-year-old was buried on Baltimore’s depth chart and wasn’t expected to make the cut.

With the Giants, Bredeson will factor in as a depth option for an offensive line that has plenty of question marks right now. He might actually have a shot to see some playing time in New York.
