Report: Gerald McCoy’s free agency options down to 3 teams

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens are vying for the services of free agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Ravens have emerged as a front-runner, but their frugal front office may not meet McCoy’s contract demands. If they can’t strike a deal, McCoy will visit a third team, the Carolina Panthers.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut McCoy on May 20 to save salary cap space. Still, McCoy is one of the league’s premier defensive tackles.

The Patriots and Bill Belichick are not reported to be in the mix, even if they need help along the defensive line, particularly at defensive end. The Patriots’ defensive tackles include Lawrence Guy, Mike Pennel, Danny Shelton and Adam Butler, among others.
