Report: Georgia basketball freshman to enter transfer portal

The Georgia basketball program began construction on a new era in Athens this past season and head coach Tom Crean is beginning to find some of his missing pieces to the puzzle.

With highly-ranked recruiting additions, comes playing time limitations however, as many of the younger players on the team are starting to figure out.

Just one year into the Crean era, the Bulldogs will graduate six players and now lose three more to the transfer portal.

According to a report from Matt Zenitz of AL.com, JoJo Toppin is likely leaving Georgia.

JoJo Toppin, a freshman out of Gwinnett County, joins fellow first-year player Ignas Sargiunas and sophomore Teshaun Hightower in leaving the program.

A former three-star forward out of Norcross High School, Toppin did not see much playing time in his first year with the Bulldogs averaging 5.5 minutes in just 18 games.

However, the freshman never lacked dedication to the program or effort, as he would continuously stay after games to work on his craft.

After every home basketball game at Stegeman Coliseum, the Brooklyn, New York native would return to the court and throw up at least a dozen shots when all the fans had left.

Toppin’s dedication and hard work are sure to land him on a solid team elsewhere in the near future of his college basketball career.

We wish him the best going forward.
