Report: Georgia among top schools for 2022’s No. 1 recruit

Georgia is looking to land America’s top ranked recruit in the class of 2022, and according to a report from 247Sports recruiting expert Barton Simmons, the Dawgs are in good shape to do so.

Strong-side defensive end Shemar Stewart (Monsignor Pace/Opa Locka, Florida) ranks as the nation’s No. 1 recruit for the class of 2022. The 6-foot-5, 236 pound sophomore apparently has four schools that are at the top of list, wrote Simmons.

Stewart has a five-star list of suitors and has already indicated that Miami, LSU, Georgia and Oregon are among his favorites. Currently no 247Sports experts have logged a Crystal Ball prediction.

Currently, Georgia has no commitments in the class of 2022.

Former offensive coordinator James Coley offered Stewart in August of 2019.

“I think they’re an amazing team,” Stewart told DawgPost after his offer from Georgia. “I have a lot of interest in UGA.”
