Report: Free-agent TE James O’Shaughnessy visits Steelers

Last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers lose tight end Jesse James to the Detroit Lions. James got himself a pay raise the Steelers weren’t going to match. But now, according to NFL reporter Field Yates, Pittsburgh might be in the market for a budget replacement. Fields is reporting free-agent tight end James O’Shaughnessy visited the Steelers on Monday.

O’Shaughnessy has been in the league for four seasons and has been primarily a rotational reserve in the NFL. He spent his first two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and the two most recent with the Jacksonville Jaguars. O’Shaughnessy has 46 career receptions and only one receiving touchdown in his career.

Pittsburgh already has Vance McDonald who looks to be the primary receiver at the tight end spot this season. The Steelers also have Xavier Grimble who the Steelers signed to a RFA tender paying him $2,025,000 in 2019.
