Report: Free agent guard Jonathan Cooper visited Panthers today

According to a report by Field Yates at ESPN, free agent guard Jonathan Cooper visited the Panthers today.

As Yates noted, Cooper (6-foot-2, 308 pounds) played his college football at North Carolina. He was a first-round pick by the Cardinals back in 2013, but he didn’t last long in Arizona. After 24 games and 11 starts in two years, he left and made stops in Cleveland, Dallas, San Francisco and Washington. Cooper was last with the Raiders, who released him earlier this week.

For now, Greg Van Roten and Trai Turner are set in stone as the team’s starting guards, but Carolina could use more depth behind them. Aside from rookie Dennis Daley, there’s not much young talent to go around on the bottom end of the depth chart.
