Report: Free agent CB Dre Kirkpatrick visited with the Patriots

The New England Patriots hosted cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick for a visit on Thursday, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Kirkpatrick, a 2017 first-round pick out of Alabama, has spent his first eight seasons in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals before spending a season with the Arizona Cardinals. The 31-year-old cornerback has 13 career interceptions with 358 interceptions.

He’s a member of a deep group of free agent cornerbacks, which includes Richard Sherman, Steve Nelson, Bobby McCain, Josh Norman, Buster Skrine and Bahaud Breeland, among others.

New England has a deep cornerback group: Stephon Gilmore, J.C. Jackson, Jonathan Jones, Jalen Mills, Joejuan Williams and Michael Jackson, among others.

After the Patriots elected not to draft a cornerback and Jason McCourty signed with the Miami Dolphins, New England might be looking for more options at the position.
