Report: Former Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater finalizing deal with the Panthers

Former Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a gruesome knee injury when he was on the Vikings.

But his career wasn’t over, and now, it seems like he has another chance at solidifying himself as a starter on a team.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that Bridgewater and the Panthers are negotiating a 3-year contract in the $60 million range, according to a source of his.

People who heard this news a week ago might think that Bridgewater would be in competition for the starting spot with Cam Newton. However, the Panthers announced that the team has given Newton permission to seek a trade.

This is huge news for Bridgewater, who might be able to come into a starting situation where the previous starter is changing teams. That, on top of the fact he could possibly earn $60 million over three years, means he’s likely the main option.

After what he had to go through with that injury in Minnesota, on top of his success in a limited role with the Saints, Bridgewater has worked hard to find himself back in a starting quarterback position. I’m happy for him.
