Report: Former Thunder coach Billy Donovan to interview with Philadelphia 76ers

Former Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Billy Donovan is expected to interview for the Philadelphia 76ers job this week, according to KRON4 News’ Jason Dumas.

Donovan and the Thunder parted ways last week after the two sides did not agree to a contract extension.

With the Sixers, Donovan would join a team that has immediate title expectations. The duo of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid is among the most talented in the league, and after falling short this year, Philadelphia hopes to make a more concerted Finals chase next year.

Donovan isn’t the only coach under consideration for the job. The 76ers are also hosting Mike D’Antoni, according to Dumas.

D’Antoni, who coached the Houston Rockets for the last four seasons, but informed the organization after his contract expired following the conference semifinals loss to the Los Angeles Lakers that he would not be returning.

Brett Brown had led the 76ers though “The Process” of tanking. They went to the playoffs his final three years with the teams, but bowed out in the first round this season.

Brown was fired after they were knocked out of the playoffs.
