Report: Former Ravens S Eric Weddle agrees to 2-year deal with Rams

Former Baltimore Ravens safety Eric Weddle agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams on Friday.

The 12-year veteran was cut by the Ravens on Tuesday after three seasons with the team. While Baltimore wished to keep Weddle around — Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta told Weddle that cutting him was one of the hardest things he’d ever done, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic — his $8.25 million cap hit in 2019 made for a pill too big for the Ravens to swallow.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Weddle agreed to a two-year deal worth up to $12.5 million with a $10.5 million base salary and $5.25 million in guaranteed money.

Weddle drew great interest on the open market, fielding offers from 11 teams, according to one report, before ultimately signing with the Rams — the only team he visited with. Baltimore and Weddle are set to meet again, albeit on different sides, when the Ravens visit the Rams in the 2019 regular season.
