Report: Former Panthers safety Mike Adams signing with Texans

The Texans just saw the Panthers secondary shut down their talented wide receiver corps. Now, they may be hoping former Carolina safety Mike Adams can help get their own defensive backs room going. According to a report by Pro Football Talk, Adams is joining Houston.

Adams spent the last two years of his career with the Panthers. He’s played in 222 career games, making it to two Pro Bowls. Adams has posted 714 solo tackles to go with 30 interceptions.

Carolina went most of the offseason without signing anyone to replace Adams. The team was fortunate Tre Boston was still on the market when they added him on the last day of August.

Boston has predictably proven to be a significant upgrade over Adams at free safety. The rest of the unit is also playing far better than they were last season. After four weeks, the Panthers have allowed the fewest passing yards per game (156.8) in the NFL.
