Former Cubs shortstop Addison Russell will sign a one-year contract with the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO, according to ESPN. The Cubs non-tendered Russell last year after he served a 40-game suspension for domestic violence. He is expected to arrive in South Korea soon. Jeeho Yoo, who covers the KBO for the Yonhap News Agency, reported Russell’s deal is for $530,000.

In five seasons with the Cubs, Russell had a slash line of .242/.312/.392 with 60 home runs and 253 RBI. He made the National League All-Star team in 2016, when he posted career highs of 21 homers and 95 RBI. That postseason, he homered twice in the NL Championship Series against the Dodgers to help revive the Cubs’ offense, and he hit a grand slam in Game 6 of the World Series against the Indians.
