Report: Former Chargers safety Jahleel Addae signing with Texans

Former Chargers safety Jahleel Addae has found a new home. The Texans are signing Addae, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson.

Los Angeles elected to release Addae in March because of his below average 2018 season after switching from strong safety to free safety. The move came as a bit of a surprise at time because Addae was liked by his former teammates and coaching staff. But

Addae had played more snaps on the defense over the past six years than any other member of the team. He was due $6 million in 2019, but releasing him saved the Bolts $5 million in salary cap space.

The former Central Michigan product joined the team in 2013 after signing as a free agent. Over his six-year stint, Addae tallied 372 combined tackles, 21 passes defensed, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, and one touchdown return.
