Report: Former Broncos safety Will Parks turned down Vikings to join Eagles

Will Parks has reportedly agreed to terms with the Eagles in free agency, and according to multiple reports, Parks turned down a better offer from the Vikings.

Mike Klis, who covers the Broncos for the Denver-based 9News, reported that the Vikings and the Lions were both bidders for Parks, who was also a special teams player for Denver.

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark also reported that the Vikings and Lions offered more money.

It’s always tough when your team loses a bidding war in free agency, especially when the Vikings need to be active in the market this offseason. But if you’re Parks, why choose the Vikings?

Maybe he’s fine with a special teams role, but he definitely has a better chance of earning playing time at safety with the Eagles. The Vikings current starters at safety are Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith. It’s going to be hard for other safeties to earn significant playing time, so long as neither of those two suffer injuries or get traded.

Per Klis, Parks deal with the Eagles is one-year and $1.6 million.
