Report: Former Bengals offensive coordinator Ken Zampese heads to the Florida Gators

Ken Zampese is on his way to the college ranks with the Florida Gators.

According to a report from Sports Illustrated‘s Andy Benoit, the former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator will join Dan Mullen and the Gators in some capacity.

Zampese has coached in the NFL since 1998, though his most memorable stints came with the Bengals. He served as Marvin Lewis’ quarterbacks coach from 2003-2015 before making the jump to offensive coordinator.

But the Bengals struggled mightily with Zampese at the controls in 2016, which bled into 2017 where he was fired after two games, both of which featured no touchdowns for the Cincinnati offense. That marked the first time in team history the front office fired a coordinator midseason.

After Cincinnati, Zampese went to Cleveland and played a role in Baker Mayfield’s early development before going to the AAF with the Atlanta Legends.
