Report: Former Bengals DB Davontae Harris to sign with Broncos

The Cincinnati Bengals made Davontae Harris one of the team’s cuts over the weekend. But like Cody Core with the New York Giants and Malik Jefferson with the Cleveland Browns, the cornerback didn’t have to wait long to find a new home.

According to Mike Klis of Denver’s 9News and other reports, the Denver Broncos intend to sign Harris and bring him aboard the 53.

Harris was a tough call on the back end of the Bengals roster but the new coaching staff decided to roll with only five corners. Technically, when Darqueze Dennard comes off the PUP and attempts to retake his starting job, he’ll be the expected sixth.

A fifth-round pick by the Bengals in 2018, Harris found himself in a roster scrap with fellow fifth-round pick Darius Phillips from the very same draft, with Phillips’ ability on special teams being the difference.
