Report: Fangio Consulting for Eagles Prior to Joining Dolphins

In an attempt to get as much intel on the Chiefs as possible, the Eagles have enlisted help from a key outside figure. Philadelphia signed former Broncos head coach Vic Fangio to a two-week contract as a consultant after the NFC championship game, per multiple reports.

Fangio, who will become the Dolphins‘ defensive coordinator starting Monday, spent three seasons playing the Chiefs in the AFC West as Denver’s head coach. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Fangio primarily worked with Philadelphia’s offensive coaches, providing information on how to best attack the Chiefs defense.

The two-week contract would allow Fangio to receive a Super Bowl ring if the Eagles beat the Chiefs. Fangio has been an NFL coach since 1986 but has yet to work on a staff that won a Super Bowl.

In three years as the Broncos’ head coach, Fangio went 19-30 including 0-6 against the Chiefs. Despite those results, he is known as one of the brightest defensive minds in the game.

Following a year away from coaching, Fangio reportedly will become Miami’s defensive coordinator. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Fangio will sign a three-year deal with the Dolphins as the league’s highest-paid coordinator.
