Falcons trade Duke Riley to Eagles for safety Johnathan Cyprien, swap draft picks

The Falcons traded linebacker Duke Riley and a sixth-round pick in 2020 to the Eagles in exchange for safety Johnathan Cyprien and a seventh-round draft pick, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Riley was a third-round pick by Atlanta in the 2017 NFL draft. He never really settled in and delivered on the promise he showed at LSU. He played 32 games with the Falcons, starting half, and totaled 84 combined tackles.

Cyprien will be the team’s answer at strong safety with Keanu Neal out for the year with a torn Achilles. Cyprien has played 74 career games (70 starts) for the Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans. With the Eagles, he was primarily a special teamer and played only two defensive snaps this season. He sat out the 2018 season after tearing an ACL during training camp.
