Report: Falcons interviewed Panthers WRs coach for their OC position

Panthers offensive coaches have been a hod commodity this offseason, with several assistants leaving for other jobs and coordinator Joe Brady interviewing for five head coach positions.

Wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson is the latest to get interest from another team. According to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network, the Falcons have interviewed Jackson for their open offensive coordinator position under new coach Arthur Smith. Jackson has also interviewed for Carolina’s quarterbacks coach job, which was vacated by Jake Peetz when he was hired by LSU.

Jackson has previous experience with Smith from 2017 when they were on the Titans’ staff together. After that season, Jackson went to Baylor to be Matt Rhule’s wide receivers coach, then followed him to Carolina.

The OC position in Atlanta has to be more enticing for Jackson than QBs coach. The Falcons offense has not reached its potential the last few years thanks to Dirk Koetter’s play-calling. However, they still have the best wide receiver on the planet, the best No. 2, a solid starting quarterback and the No. 4 overall pick in the draft.
