Report: Falcons hosted former DT Ra’Shede Hageman for a visit last week

According to a report by Darren Wolfson at ESPN, the Falcons hosted former defensive tackle Ra’Shede Hageman for a visit last Wednesday.

Hageman was a second-round pick by Atlanta in the 2014 draft. It did not take long for that pick to be considered a bust, though. He only produced four sacks and nine tackles for a loss in 44 games.

Off-field concerns have been the main issue with Hageman. He was suspended by the league for six games stemming from a domestic violence allegation from March of 2016. Atlanta released him in early September of 2017 as a result. If he signs, Hageman will face another two-game suspension from a DUI last summer.

Atlanta appears to be examining all possible options to upgrade the spot next to Grady Jarrett. The Falcons greatly miss Dontari Poe’s presence in the middle of the defensive line and finding a better replacement than Terrell McCLain turned out to be has to be a top offseason priority.

The team is also meeting with former Saints defensive tackle and current free agent Tyeler Davison.
