Report: Falcons have ‘strong interest’ in Oklahoma OL prospect Cody Ford

According to a report by Vaughn McClure at ESPN, the Atlanta Falcons have a strong interest in 2019 Oklahoma offensive line prospect Cody Ford. Ford would likely project as a starting right tackle in the NFL, which automatically makes him worth considering for Atlanta. McClure says the Falcons are enamored with Ford’s toughness.

“The Falcons have a strong interest in Oklahoma offensive lineman Cody Ford (6-4, 329) and had a formal meeting with him. They love his toughness. Ford started at right tackle in 14 games last season and started at left guard for seven games in 2016 and 2017.”

Houston’s destructive defensive lineman Ed Oliver is still the favorite name that comes up regarding Atlanta’s first-round pick, but this isn’t the first time we’ve heard Ford’s name connected to the franchise. Two weeks ago, Chris Trapasso at CBS Sports mocked Ford to the Falcons at No. 14 overall.

If it’s true Atlanta really wants Ford, it would certainly ease concerns about Ty Sambrailo having to replace Ryan Schraeder at RT1. They’ll definitely need to use a first-rounder to get him, though.
