Report: Falcons DE Vic Beasley on trading block

The Falcons’ 1-5 start to the season has caused a whirlwind of trade speculation.

Rumors of wide receiver Mohamed Sanu, tight end Austin Hooper and even quarterback Matt Ryan being traded have been all over Twitter on Friday afternoon.

While these rumors are mostly baseless, according to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz, defensive end Vic Beasley is reportedly on the trading block.

Beasley recorded 15.5 sacks during the Falcons’ 2016 Super Bowl run, but has just 11.5 sacks in the 36 games he’s played in since then.

This year, Atlanta’s pass rush has hit a new low — failing to record a sack in three straight games, and have only five total on the season.

Beasley is currently second on the team with 1.5 sacks, but has been frustratingly close to a number of others. According to Schultz, the Falcons believe a change of scenery could be just what the 27-year-old needs.

The team can’t expect much in return if they do trade Beasley due to his cap hit, lack of production and the fact that he’s in the last year of his deal.

We shall see if another team wants to take a chance on the former 2016 sack champion.
