Report: Falcons agree to 3-year, $66M extension with Julio Jones

According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Falcons have agreed to a three-year, $66 million extension with wide receiver Julio Jones. All $66 million is guaranteed and all but $2 million of it is due at signing.

In addition to the two years already left on Jones’ deal, he’s now tied up with the organization through the 2023 season.

Jones has been with the Falcons since 2011, when they traded five picks to take him in the first round of the draft. Since then, he’s played in 111 games, posting 698 catches for 10,731 yards and 51 touchdowns.

Any deal this large is enough to give fans pause, but there’s no question that Jones had outplayed his old contract and deserved a raise. Before this extension, he didn’t even rank among the top 10 wide receivers in the league in terms of annual earnings.
