Report: Ezekiel Elliott won’t play for Dallas Cowboys without new deal in place

I mean, we don’t post about it every day, but we at least keep you in tune to what’s going on with the latest in the Zeke holdout. So far there’s been a lot of words and little tangible action. Both camps have reportedly went back and forth on terms, but no agreement has been reached.

And now this.

According to an article on ESPN, sources close to the situation have reported that Ezekiel Elliott will not play for the Cowboys without a deal getting done. And not just any deal, but one that would presumably make him the highest paid running back in the entire league.

But it’s not time to panic just yet. There’s still plenty of time, and owner Jerry Jones has stressed getting a deal done. Still, this revelation might ramp things up a bit — maybe that’s what it’s designed for.

We keep saying this, but at some point the goodwill and optimism that is apparently still out there could wear down as this drags on. It’s in everyone’s best interest to get something done, but who’s going to blink?
