Report: Ex-Rams ticket exec suing Patrick Chung over Super Bowl trash talk

There was no shortage of trash talk between the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots leading up to Super Bowl LIII, including a comment by Patrick Chung and response from Brandin Cooks. It was harmless banter, but something posted to Chung’s social media accounts during the game could have him in some hot water.

According to TMZ, a former Rams ticket executive is suing Chung for a text exchange, which ended up on social media. Matthew Hogan, the ex-Rams employee, sent a text to his friend, Matthew Weymouth, saying “Patrick Chung is a (expletive).” Weymouth also runs Chung’s social media accounts and Hogan alleges that Weymouth posted the text to Chung’s social pages.

Hogan claims he was “forced from his job” as a result of the text message – which he says was a joke – being posted on Chung’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. Hogan alleges that Weymouth made it appear as if he sent the message directly to the Patriots safety.

The caption of the posts read: “This is disrespectful of you. I would never wish or say anything like this to anyone after they just broke their arm. You should be ashamed bro.”

Hogan also claims he’s been unable to find a job elsewhere and has received harassing messages from fans of Chung. The lawsuit is reportedly for more than $1.75 million.
